AI & Automation - Former Product & Payments Leader

Stefan de Lange

I currently build AI-powered automation for craftspeople and trade businesses, applying the rigor and reliability I learned in regulated fintech environments.

Before moving into handwerk automation I helped scaling teams ship trustworthy fintech products that balance customer experience with regulatory reality—12+ years across product management, solution design, and merchant integrations.

Profile

About

I lead automation and AI initiatives for crafts and trade operations, translating on-the-ground needs into resilient digital workflows. The same toolkit helped me spend 12+ years in fintech product management, solution design, and merchant integrations—launching payment methods, building bespoke solutions, and guiding teams through complex regulatory landscapes.

Systems thinker with a hands-on bias for delivery. Transparent, structured communicator who bridges product, engineering, and field operations to deliver trustworthy outcomes.

I had the privilege of working under Stefan's effective leadership for the majority of my tenure at Klarna. During this time, his proficiency in both product and team management consistently stood out. His ability to identify and address gaps within product offerings, coupled with his talent for articulating and managing various stakeholders, ensured he was a driving force in enhancing team productivity.

Stefan's leadership skills shine in high-pressure environments. I have observed him adeptly juggling multiple projects, demonstrating an impressive capacity for strategic planning and effective multitasking. Beyond his managerial acumen, he carries the spirit of a true hacker. He has an innate ability to brainstorm and devise solutions on the fly, offering support to developers in ideation and execution. His ability to understand and resolve technical issues, coupled with his intuition to understand and extract the best from his teammates makes him an invaluable link between product management and development teams. I strongly and wholeheartedly recommend Stefan without any reservations.

I highly recommend Stefan as a product manager and as a person. He always stood out to me for his conscientiousness and empathy for his colleagues and customers, constantly bringing up pertinent examples of user research, comparable products and being a voice of the user in every interaction I had with him.

What made my job easier as a manager was his unwavering sense of accountability and drive to make his team and product better. I could always trust Stefan to make informed decisions and document his recommendations of WHY something would be better for customers, regardless of the difficulty of the problem or the stakeholders involved. This thoroughness paid off in many meetings, where Stefan always shined with his strong counterpoints and sparking many discussions with his thought provoking questions.

You’d be very lucky to have Stefan on your team.

I worked directly with Stefan for 3 years in different roles and locations. His development in this period has been impressive to say the least. He managed to build up a team from scratch, expand it and lead it through a set of ambitious projects in an uncharted territory. Warm hearted, hard working, precise and detailed in the way he deals with challenges: I highly recommend him!

I have worked with Stefan for over two years at Klarna, initially within the team that launched Klarna in the UK and more recently collaborating on rolling out new products to global enterprise retailers. Although we now work in different countries and different parts of the Klarna business, I still regularly defer to Stefan on topics related to how merchants integrate and technically work with Klarna. He has a deep knowledge of the Klarna platform in all the markets we operate in, he knows our APIs inside-out and has extensive experience of working with the many associated ecommerce and retail systems our merchants depend on. He has a sound commercial head on his shoulders, understanding what's important to our merchants' business and how to balance that against technical restraints and dependences. And, most importantly in my opinion, he operates with a single-minded determination to produce solutions that are the best experience possible for our merchant's customers.

Beyond Work

Personal

Staying curious fuels my product work. Here's what I explore when I step away from roadmaps and release notes.

I love capturing world travel through photography and writing about the journey that comes with van life and remote adventures.
